Inspired by the global financial crisis, IFM Investors set out six years ago to convert its two decades of investment experience into a strategic framework for infrastructure investment.

A year of intense research by IFM’s quantitative experts culminated in a comprehensive analytical methodology for constructing balanced, core infrastructure portfolios, called InFRAME™.

This session exlpores what this powerful suite of analytical tools reveals about the performance of infrastructure investments, and how its quantitative insights have helped IFM Investors achieve superior returns in its Australian and global infrastructure funds.

The KGAL Real Investments Breakfast 2017 will show the volatility of investing in these renewable energy sources with discussion points centred on the risks embedded in:
  • energy demand
  • future growth

As capital continues to flow into the infrastructure sector, an increasingly competitive market presents a greater challenge for investors to secure attractive risk weighted returns.  AMP Capital’s presentation will address the topics below.
  • The evolution of infrastructure investing: how investors can access the investment characteristics they seek from infrastructure, such as long term, stable cash flows, high barriers to entry, inflation protection, from sub-sectors that are broader than those historically classified as core infrastructure.
  • The value of relative value investing: Investors should consider several elements in the investment process to realise value, including type of asset, geographical location, the stage of investment and ongoing asset management
  • The value of active asset management: as traditional perceptions of infrastructure definitions are challenged, it is now more important than ever for managers to bring to bear demonstrable active asset management skills to deliver sustainable, long term value to investors.

US commercial real estate has fully recovered from the global financial crisis, with asset pricing for core and core plus assets at or above prior peak pricing. In order to generate strong-risk adjusted returns in this environment, investors should seek access instead to middle market assets - well-located properties that trade for less than USD50m - which can be acquired with strong current yields and significant upside potential.
