  • The evolution of infrastructure investing: how investors can access the investment characteristics they seek from infrastructure, such as long term, stable cash flows, high barriers to entry, inflation protection, from sub-sectors that are broader than those historically classified as core infrastructure.
  • The value of relative value investing: Investors should consider several elements in the investment process to realise value, including type of asset, geographical location, the stage of investment and ongoing asset management
  • The value of active asset management: as traditional perceptions of infrastructure definitions are challenged, it is now more important than ever for managers to bring to bear demonstrable active asset management skills to deliver sustainable, long term value to investors.

US commercial real estate has fully recovered from the global financial crisis, with asset pricing for core and core plus assets at or above prior peak pricing. In order to generate strong-risk adjusted returns in this environment, investors should seek access instead to middle market assets - well-located properties that trade for less than USD50m - which can be acquired with strong current yields and significant upside potential.

Matt Evans, BSc, Principal, Infrastructure Equity, AMP Capital
Matt Evans joined AMP Capital in 2013 and is a senior member of the team responsible for sourcing deals in Europe for the global infrastructure platform and AMP Capital’s institutional investors, with responsibility for both origination of opportunities and transaction execution. He has a specific focus on the telecoms infrastructure sector.
 
Prior to joining AMP Capital, he worked for Macquarie Capital Advisors (the investment banking arm of the Macquarie Group) for 14 years, most recently as a Managing Director in the London office responsible for telecoms infrastructure coverage. Before joining Macquarie's London office he was focused on telecom and media based in New York from 2006 to 2009 and in the Middle East from 2009 to 2011.
 
Evans has a BSc and a BA with Honours from the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
Peter Braffman, Managing Director, Private Markets Investment Committee Member
GCM Grosvenor
Peter Braffman is a member of the Private Markets Investment Committee and serves on the Global Investment Council at GCM Grosvenor. He leads the real estate investment practice and is responsible for real estate sourcing and underwriting activities. 
 
Prior to joining GCM Grosvenor, Braffman was a partner in the Customized Fund Investment Group of Credit Suisse Group. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Zurich Alternative Asset Management, where he was responsible for sourcing, underwriting and executing US-based real estate investments. Prior to joining Zurich Alternative, he was a vice president in the Merger and Strategic Advisory Group at Goldman Sachs.
 
Braffman holds a BA in Biology and History from the University of Rochester, an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law.
Tim van den Brande​, Director of International Capital Raising

Tim Van den Brande has been a director of both KGAL GmbH & Co. KG and KGAL Capital GmbH & Co. KG since 2013. Van den Brande is responsible for international business development for KGAL’s funds. 
 
Prior to joining the KGAL group, he was Director, Institutional Business International at Kleinwort Benson in Munich and London for three years. He has also held a number of high-level positions in London including at Matrix Group, JP Morgan, Bank of America - Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan.
 
Van Brande has a Master’s in Management from French business school, Emlyon. 
Michael Landman

Joined IFM Investors in March 2007
Michael Landman is responsible for the origination, analysis, structure and execution of fund investments, along with portfolio construction and management. Prior to joining IFM Investors, Landman was involved with industrial research and development, oil and gas exploration, field development, engineering and planning, and strategy development and execution at BHP Billiton. He led a number of oil and gas asset transactions on behalf of BHP Billiton as Manager, Acquisitions and Divestments. Landman represents IFM Investors as a Director on the boards of Ecogen Energy, Eastern Distributor (M1 toll-road), Interlink Roads (M5 toll-road) and NT Airports.
