Dr Bob Swarup is a respected international expert on macroeconomics, financial markets and alternatives. He is the founder of Camdor Global, a strategic advisory firm that works with leading institutions, investors and policymakers globally on tackling key investment, risk management and macro issues. Past and present clients include Westminster City Council, the Borough of Newham, Saxo Bank, M&G, the Pensions Regulator and Royal London.

Bob was formerly a partner at Pension Corporation, a leading UK-based pension buyout firm, where he ran alternative investments, was Chief Risk Officer and oversaw thought leadership. He has also served as Senior Investment Advisor to the Pensions Regulator; on the Advisory Board of Adveq, a leading Swiss PE firm recently acquired by Schroders; on the Board of CatCo, a $3bn reinsurance hedge fund that he helped seed in 2011; on the advisory board of Praesidian Europe, a UK SME lending fund backed by the UK government and the European Investment Fund; and on several industry committees and consortia across the pensions, insurance and alternative spheres.

Bob is a Fellow of the Institute of Economic Affairs; a Senior Visiting Fellow at Cass Business School; on the Advisory Council of the Columbia Committee for Global Thought; and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Alternative Investments. He holds a PhD in cosmology from Imperial College London and an MA (Hons) from the University of Cambridge. Bob has written extensively on diverse topics across academia and media, with his work being featured in the Economist, Financial Times, Guardian, BBC, CNBC and Bloomberg amongst others. His latest book is the critically acclaimed bestseller Money Mania (Bloomsbury), a thematic analysis of the last 25 centuries of financial crises.

Marta joined Borsa Italiana in 2003 as Marketing and Communication Manager. Following the merger with the London Stock Exchange she was appointed Project Marketing Manager for the implementation of AIM in Italy and then Head of Corporate Advisors Continental Europe, within the Primary Markets, until when she took her actual position as Head of ELITE Growth Europe within ELITE (Company of the London Stock Exchange Group whose mission is to support private and public companies connecting with capital using the digital technology).
Prior to the London Stock Exchange, she worked in the Corporate Broking and Insurance Industries.
She holds a degree in Political Sciences and Economics at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan and she got an International Business Certificate at La Trobe University in Melburne – Australia.
Marta is Board Member in TLM S.r.l. and member of the Scientific Committee within the Faculty of Political Sciences and Economics at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan.

Mark Thompson is the Chief Investment Officer of HSBC Bank Pension Trust (UK) Limited. The Trust is a hybrid scheme comprising a Defined Benefit Section and a Defined Contribution Section, with over £30bn of joint fund.
Mark joined HSBC in 2011 but prior to this held a number of senior investment roles at Prudential/M&G. These included UK equity fund manager, Head of Equity Research, Director of Collective Investments and Investment & Strategy Director for Prudential Europe. Mark was also a Trustee of the Prudential's UK Pensions Scheme. Mark has a Masters Degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.

Marc started his career in 1996 with Deutsche Bank Duesseldorf in a Sales role covering Foreign Exchange and Rates products. He moved to HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt, Dusseldorf in 2000 working in Foreign Exchange Sales with a focus on structured products. Two years later Marc became Head of German Desk at LCF Rothschild in Geneva. In this position he was responsible for the advisory of German and Pan-European clients within structured rates, FX and quantitative asset management.

Marc became Head of Currency Overlay Management at HSBC Trinkaus in 2004 before moving to London in 2013 as Global Head of FX Overlay. In this position he is responsible for the global FX Overlay platform of HSBC providing passive and dynamic hedging solutions.

Having previously served as Managing Director of Zebra Technologies Europe and NiceLabel’s external advisor in advance of the founder’s planned retirement, he assumed the position of the CEO in 2016. Rob Arnott is the founder and chairman of Research Affiliates. He is also portfolio manager on the PIMCO All Asset and All Asset All Authority family of funds and the PIMCO RAE™ suite of funds.

Over his career, Rob has endeavored to bridge the worlds of academic theorists and financial markets, challenging conventional wisdom and searching for solutions that add value for investors. He has pioneered several unconventional portfolio strategies that are now widely applied, including tactical asset allocation, global tactical asset allocation, tax-advantaged equity management, and the Fundamental Index approach to investing. His success in doing so has resulted in a reputation as one of the world’s most provocative practitioners and respected financial analysts.

Rob managed two asset management firms before founding Research Affiliates. As chairman of First Quadrant, LP, he built up the former internal money manager for Crum & Forster into a highly regarded quantitative asset management firm. He also was global equity strategist at Salomon Brothers (now part of Citigroup), the founding president and CEO of TSA Capital Management (now part of Analytic Investors, LLC), and a vice president at The Boston Company.

In 2002, Rob established Research Affiliates as a research-intensive asset management firm that focuses on innovative products. The firm explores novel approaches to active asset allocation, optimal portfolio construction, efficient forms of indexation, and other quantitative strategies. Research Affiliates delivers investment solutions globally in partnership with leading financial institutions.

Rob has published more than 100 articles in such journals as the Journal of Portfolio Management, Harvard Business Review, and Financial Analysts Journal, where he also served as editor in chief from 2002 through 2006. In recognition of his achievements as a financial writer, Rob has received seven Graham and Dodd Scrolls, awarded annually by CFA Institute to the top Financial Analysts Journal articles of the year. He also has received three Bernstein Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy awards from the Journal of Portfolio Management. He is co-author of The Fundamental Index: A Better Way to Invest (Wiley 2008).

Rob Arnott received a BS summa cum laude in economics, applied mathematics, and computer science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Vincent is the Chief Economist for Standish, part of BNY Mellon Investment Management. He is responsible for developing views on the global economy and making relative value recommendations among global bond markets, currencies, and sectors. Previously, he was Chief US Economist and managing director at Morgan Stanley. For the prior four years, he was a resident scholar at the AEI. Mr. Reinhart worked at the Federal Reserve for twenty-four years, most recently as Director of the Division of Monetary and Secretary and Economist of the Federal Open Market Committee. His responsibilities at the Federal Reserve included directing research and analysis of monetary policy strategies and the conduct of policy through open market operations, discount window lending, and reserve requirements. He was the principal liaison with the domestic desk at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and was responsible for preparing a document outlining policy alternatives for each FOMC meeting.
His earlier experience in the Federal Reserve System included a two-year stint as Deputy Director in the Division of International Finance and Associate Economist of the FOMC and five years spent at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in a variety of capacities in both the Domestic and International Research Departments. His academic publications primarily concern the conduct of policy and issues related to the monetary transmission mechanism as well as an analysis of alternative auction techniques and Treasury debt management. After an undergraduate training at Fordham University, he received graduate degrees in economics at Columbia University.
