Brodie Boland is Partner and a leader of McKinsey & Company’s work on climate risk in the real-estate and infrastructure sectors, serving real estate organisations, city governments, urban technology providers, and infrastructure investors and operators. He has advised several cities on climate-adaptation strategies, including improving infrastructure resilience to flood, fire, heat, and other hazards, and on the integration of physical adaptation and mitigation measures into economic growth, mobility, and other socio-economic objectives. Examples of Brodie’s recent work include reviewing real estate and infrastructure portfolios to identify risks related to climate change and supporting clients in developing strategies for real estate developers and investors to expand their capabilities in investment management, development, and operations, and helping cities understand and prepare for potential risks from climate change. Brodie is a frequent contributor to McKinsey’s knowledge development and a regular speaker at conferences and forums. He is a co-author of recent McKinsey Global Institute reports on climate risk and smart cities, leveraging his doctoral research on the technological, institutional, and human changes needed to help societies become more environmentally sustainable.
