Philippe Lefebvre is Head of Sector at the European Commission, responsible for the its 5G deployment strategy including policy and economic aspects and in particular the implementation of the 5G Action Plan for Europe. Before his current position, he was responsible for the broadcasting sector as well as the general secretariat of the Radio Spectrum Policy Group in the EU spectrum policy unit. He also worked in several other Commission's departments between 1996 and 2003 including electronic commerce and financial technologies. Prior to joining the European Commission, Lefebvre held middle management positions in Belgium’s Generale Bank from 1983 to1986, Vice President for MasterCard Europe from1987 to 1991, and as Director Debit Products with Visa International in the US from 1992 to 1995. Lefebvre holds an MS in electrical and mechanical engineering and an MBA in economics from the Brussels University.
