CREATE, guided by and sponsored by DWS, surveyed 127 pension funds globally in 20 countries, with combined AUM of €2.2 trillion. This is the second annual research report following last year’s debut. The 2019 survey focuses on passive institutional investing and the rise of stewardship, hence the presentation will focus around the main findings:

• What role do passive funds have in pension portfolios? Are they peripheral or mainstream?
• Will passive funds continue to increase and which funds will see the highest growth?
• How important is stewardship in the selection of passive managers?
• Do passive manages meet the stewardship goals of pension funds?
• How important is ESG and corporate governance for pension funds?
