Middle Market Private Equity: Investing in an Uncertain Environment

Over the past 10 or so years, sophisticated limited partners (LPs) have steadily increased allocations to private markets, particularly private equity (PE), which displayed considerable resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic amidst significant uncertainty. The middle market especially benefited from market liquidity, while the pace of investment remained high. However, a significant dislocation in the public private markets occurred as the pandemic wore on and other factors such as inflation, supply chain challenges, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and large-scale rate increases came to the fore. This session will provide perspectives to inform LPs on ways to invest in the current environment.
