Gerard van Olphen
Chairman of the Executive Board, APG Group

Gerard van Olphen was appointed Chairman of the Executive Board of APG Group in 2016. Prior to APG, he served as Chairman of the executive boards of both Vivat Verzekeringen and SNS Reaal, the latter an appointment by the Dutch ministry of finance to restructure the company. In the 28 years prior to that, he held various management positions, including Chief Finance & Risk Officer at Achmea from 2002-2013, where he was vice-chairman from 2008; CFO at NIB Capital; CEO at NIBC Asset Management; and Chief Finance & Risk Officer and Manager Financial Information at Reaal Verzekeringen. He is also a member of the supervisory board of the Hartstichting, Chairman of the Financing Task Group of the Dutch Climate Board, a member of the supervisory board of Netspar and a board member of ASR Nederland. He started his career at Amro Bank as an EDP auditor. Van Olphen has also held various roles for the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), Insurance Europe and the Dutch Association of Insurers. He received a degree in business economics from the University of Groningen, where he completed the postdoctoral programme to become a registered accountant.
