Nicolas Jeanmart
Head of Personal & General Insurance, Insurance Europe , *
Nicolas Jeanmart is Head of Personal & General Insurance at Insurance Europe. Jeanmart contributes to the global and European debates affecting the non-life and life insurance sectors. In recent years, the question of how to reduce insurance protection gaps, notably in the areas of natural catastrophes, pensions, cyber and health, has kept him especially busy; he actively contributed to the protection gaps report of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA) and is currently co-rapporteur of the European Commission’s Climate Resilience Dialogue. In his earlier career he provided consultancy and training services, primarily to the financial sector, in Belgium and Luxembourg. He held various positions working for the European Savings Banks Group (ESBG), culminating in four years as head of the banking supervision and economic affairs department. This position entailed notably the responsibility for representing the interests of Europe’s savings and retail banks in the discussions on global bank capital requirements frameworks (Basel II and Basel III). Jeanmart holds a master’s degree in business engineering, as well as degrees in European integration and development and in computer sciences.
