Bernard Delbecque is Senior Director for Economics and Research at the European Fund and Asset management Association (EFAMA). He leads EFAMA’s activities in the area of research, investor education and pension issues. He is also responsible for the publication of the EFAMA’s Fact Book, Asset Management Report and Market Insights. Prior to joining EFAMA, he was a policy advisor to the Belgian Minister of Finance and previously he worked as an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington.Delbecque has served as Vice-Chair of EIOPA’s Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group (OPSG) between April 2016 and October 2018, before being elected Chair in July 2018. He was re-elected Chair of the OPSG in July 2020 and September 2022. Delbecque has also been a member of ESMA’s Group of Economic Advisers for several years and in October 2023, he was selected as a member of the Investor Trends and Research Consultative Working Group of ESMA’s Risk Standing Committee. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and he has taught economics courses at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium for more than twenty-five years.
