John Forbes is a Partner at John Forbes Consulting LLP. He is a recognised authority on the structure, operation and governance of real estate investment funds. Since establishing John Forbes Consulting LLP in 2013, he has advised several fund managers and investors on the structuring or restructuring of open and closed-ended funds. In addition to his consulting work, he is Non-Executive Chair of the Urban Splash Residential Fund, a Non-Executive Director of the Patrizia Hanover fund and a Senior Advisor to Enterprise Land. From 2014 to 2022 was independent chair of the Supervisory Board of the UBS Triton property fund. Prior to setting up John Forbes Consulting LLP, he spent 26 years at PwC where he was a partner and was the firm's international Subject Matter Expert for real estate funds. He is Co-Chair of the Public Policy Committee of the Association of Real Estate Funds (AREF), a member of the Indirect Investment Committee of the Investment Property Forum (IPF) and organises the UK real estate capital markets programme for the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He won the 2017 AREF award for Outstanding Individual Contribution. He is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Tax Adviser and a Chartered Surveyor.
