Sonia Gonzalez Valverde

Board member, Rockfield and Care Property Invest

Sonia Gonzalez Valverde has a long career as an investment professional, institutional investor and board member in the US, Europe and Asia and across sectors and risk profiles. She is currently an Independent Board member of Rockfield Real Estate, a private investment manager focused on European student accommodation, as well as an Independent Supervisory Board member of Care Property Invest, a Belgian public REIT that specialises in senior accommodation across Europe, serving as Chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. Gonzalez Valverde was most recently employed full time as Head of Global Real Estate Investments at Shell Asset Management, 2013-26, where she was responsible for managing the global real estate portfolios of the different Shell pension funds around the globe. Prior employers included CBRE IM and ING Real Estate, where she acted as senior investment manager for Europe of different client’s portfolios and participated in the restructuring of various real estate funds. From 2019, she has been an active member of INREV, participating in the Liquidity and Secondaries as well as the Technology Committees. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from ETEA, Loyola University of Andalucia, in cooperation with E.S.S.E.C., Grande Ecole de Commerce de Paris, a Certificate in Global Management from INSEAD and an International Directors Certificate from INSEAD. She is an active member of the INSEAD alumni Group. Since March 2026, Gonzalez Valverde serves as a volunteer member of the Board of Advisors at Open Embassy, a social enterprise that supports local authorities with data to better integrate migrants.
