Richard Tomlinson is an independent consultant and investor. Previously, he was Investment Director to LPPI Real Estate Fund, the first UK public pension scheme with real estate asset-pooling. He was instrumental in its establishment, regulatory approval and phased transition of assets. Tomlinosn managed real estate for Lancashire County Pension Fund (LCPF) and London Pension Fund Authority. LPPI Real Estate Fund recorded a first quintile performance in its first year of operation (against MSCI UK Index) driven by thematic investing, an early allocation of capital to alternative real estate sectors and promotion of sustainability. Tomlinson implemented LCPF’s investment allocation to infrastructure building a portfolio of both fund and direct investments, diversified by sector, by geography and by deal size. He began with LCPF in a finance role, preparing the annual report, dealing with compliance, audit issues and employer contributions, managing an equity retender and transition, handling commercial negotiations and a change of custodian. Before that, he was European Finance Director at MediaOcean. Tomlinson holds a Natural Sciences degree and a Law degree and trained as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young in London and Paris.
