Ben Elder
Global Head of Valuation | RICS
Ben Elder is Global Director for Valuation at RICS, responsible for delivery of its global valuation strategy which plays a key role in securing global financial stability and the development and application of international valuation standards. Elder is an economist and chartered surveyor and has acted as a practising valuer. He has held senior academic positions at Nottingham Trent University and The College of Estate Management. He joined RICS in his current role in 2011 having served on various RICS boards including International Governing Council as an elected world representative. He was selected to Chair the IVSC Tangible Assets Standards Board and be a member of the overarching IVSC Standards Board. This appointment follows periods as a member of the Global Advisory Forum for The Appraisal Foundation in the US as well as the Advisory Forum Executive to the International Valuation Standards Council. In 2018 he was selected to Chair Commission 9 (Valuation) for the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG). Elder contributed a chapter entitled International Standards- key to unlocking the value of green buildings? A handbook of sustainable real estate that was published in 2017.
