Raphael Mertens
Chief Risk Officer - Allianz Real Estate
Raphael Mertens is Chief Risk Officer of Allianz Real Estate and member of the Executive Committee. He is also a member on both the equity and debt investment committees where he holds a right of veto. He joined Allianz Real Estate in 2015 as Global Head of Portfolio Management. He has been with the Allianz group since 2004 where he has held several positions including Group Head of Alternative Investments and Director at Allianz Investment Management. He has also served as Head of Alternative Investments-Controlling at Allianz Deutschland AG and Investment Officer Alternative Investments at Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG. Mertens holds a PhD from the University of Kiel and an MBA equivalent, Dipl.-Kfm, from the Universities of Kiel and Trier.
