Tobias Popovic

Professor of Corporate & Sustainable Finance, Stuttgart Business School

Prof. Dr. Tobias Popović is Professor of Corporate & Sustainable Finance, Financial Markets & Services and CSR at Stuttgart Business School (SBS) at HFT Stuttgart. He has been Ethics Officer at HFT since 2010 and served as Sustainability Officer from 2010 to 2017. Since 2014, Popović has been Co-Director of the Centre for Sustainable Economics and Management (CSEM). His research focuses on Sustainable Finance and Sustainable Entrepreneurship & Innovation, with particular emphasis in recent years on sustainable real estate finance and sustainable infrastructure finance. His work includes externally funded projects for federal and state ministries, the EU, foundations and multilateral organisations, including the IEA, covering areas such as business models for heating and cooling networks and innovative financing solutions for the heating transition. Popović is the founder and director of the Steinbeis Transfer Centre for Sustainable Finance and Management, a start-up mentor, policy advisor and member of various advisory boards. He is also the author of numerous publications and has given guest lectures on sustainable finance at universities in Europe and Asia. Prior to his academic career, Popović worked for DZ BANK in Frankfurt from 1999 to 2008 and served as a member of the board of directors at Banco Cooperativo Español in Madrid.
