Prof. Miranda Schreurs is Chair of Climate and Environmental Policy at the School of Politics and Public Policy at the Technical Universities of Munich. Her research focuses on the energy transition and climate policy in Europe, the US, and Asia. Prof. Schreurs was appointed by former Chancellor Angela Merkel as a member of the Ethics Commission for a Secure Energy Supply in 2011. She was a member of the German government's Advisory Council on the Environment from 2008-2016 and served as co-chair of the National Monitoring Committee appointed by the Bundestag and Bundesrat to oversee the search for a repository site for high-level radioactive waste from 2016-2025, as well as both chair and vice-chair of the European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Council (EEAC) from 2009-2022. She was a Fulbright Fellow in Japan and Germany and studied for three years at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Until 2007, she worked as a Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Maryland, and from 2007 to 2016, she was Director of the Research Center for Environmental Policy and professor of comparative politics at the Free University of Berlin.
