Mathias Schwermer

Head of Illiquid Assets Forestry, MEAG

Mathias Schwermer is Head of Illiquid Assets Forestry at MEAG. He has held this position since 2025. He oversees the strategic development and management of a global forest portfolio encompassing approximately 500.000 hectares. He began his career with a West German state forestry administration before moving into asset management. Prior to joining MEAG, he led institutional investments in timberland and agriculture, as well as spearheaded the development of projects in renewable energy and CO₂ certificates at a German asset manager. He holds a master’s degree in Forestry from the University of Goettingen/ Germany and completed his state exams.
