Paul E. Owens is the President of Paul Owens Pension and Investment Consulting Ltd., an independent firm specializing in pensions, investments and board governance. He is a Member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Maria Droste Foundation of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. He recently retired as the Advisor to the Executive Director for the Alberta Carpenters and Allied Workers (ACAW) Pension and Health and Wellness Trust Funds having completed his term as CEO and Chair of the Investment Committee. In March, 2024, he completed a three-year contract with the Ellement Consulting Group in Edmonton, Alberta as Senior Vice President, Pension Policy. Previously, he was the Deputy Superintendent of Pensions for the Government of Alberta for 9 years where he was responsible for the regulation and monitoring of pension plans registered in Alberta under the Employment Pension Plans Act. This encompassed over 600 pension plans covering 940,000 members with $130 CAD billion in assets. He is also a Faculty Member for the Humber College Pension Plan Administration Certificate program. He is the 2015 recipient of the Libby Slater Award from the International Pension and Employee Benefits Lawyers Association (IPEBLA).
