Matti Leppälä

PensionsEurope
Matti Leppälä has served as Secretary General of PensionsEurope since 2011, representing national associations of pension funds and institutions for occupational retirement provision and personal pensions from across Europe. He has more than 35 years of experience in European pension policy, occupational pensions, labour law and financial regulation.
Prior to joining PensionsEurope, he worked for 11 years at the Finnish Pension Alliance (TELA) and previously held positions at the Finnish Ministry of Justice and in the Finnish labour market organisations. He has extensive experience advising EU institutions on pension policy and financial market legislation. He has served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), is currently a Vice-Chair of the OPSG, and has been a member of the European Commission High-Level Group of Experts on Pensions. He has also served as Chair of the World Pension Alliance.
Leppälä is a frequent speaker and moderator at European and international conferences on pension policy, long-term investment, sustainable finance and financial regulation.
