Henrik Pontzen is Head of ESG at Union Investment, which he joined in January 2019. Prior to that, he worked for ten years for HSBC in various roles, including Head of Business Risk Control Management in Germany and other European countries, Head of Custody Sales – Insurances and Asset Managers Germany, Head of Institutional Client Group Germany and as a consultant for Capco. Since 2016, he has been a member of the board of DVFA, the German asset management and investment professionals’ association. Pontzen studied philosophy, economics and history in Bonn and Copenhagen and has lectured at various German universities, including LMU Munich and the University of Wuppertal. Currently, he lectures at the University of Cologne, Witten/Herdecke University and the IREBS at the University of Regensburg.
