Alan Brown retired as Governor of the Wellcome Trust in 2019. He has forty years background in international investment management, having led two investment businesses in both the UK and US. His most recent full-time position was as a main board director and Chief Investment Officer of Schroders. Prior to that he was Group Chief Investment Officer and Vice Chairman of State Street Global Advisors, and Executive Vice President of State Street Corporation. He has been awarded Chief Investment Officer of the Year on three occasions. Brown has wide ranging experience of chairing and acting as a Director/Governor. He currently holds the following positions of Chairman at both Artemis and CDP, and Director at Pool Re. In addition to the Wellcome Trust, he also resigned as Governor of the Westway Trust in 2019.
