At 33, Ana Nachkebia is reshaping Georgia’s pension system and domestic capital markets. As acting CIO of the Pension Fund of Georgia, she manages GEL7.1bn (€2.3bn) – nearly 7% of Georgia’s GDP – and is steering the fund towards managing assets amounting to 20% of GDP by 2035. Since joining in 2023, Ana has progressed from portfolio manager to acting CIO, demonstrating both strategic vision and technical expertise. Under her stewardship, the fund has moved from near-total reliance on bank deposits to a diversified portfolio spanning global equities, US Treasuries, supranational bonds and local corporate debt, materially improving risk-adjusted returns. She has introduced tactical asset allocation, allowing the fund to respond flexibly to market conditions, and implemented the fund's first ESG policy, embedding sustainability into investment decision-making. Beyond portfolio management, Nachkebia has modernised reporting and analytics, overseen the fund’s first annual report and led the adoption of a modern portfolio-management system, enhancing governance and operational efficiency. As a cornerstone investor in domestic bond issuances, she has strengthened Georgia’s capital markets. Ana contributes to global sovereign investment dialogue, exemplifying the leadership celebrated by the Young Pension Fund Professional Award.
