Markus Schmidt is a Principal at Mercer Investments. He advises institutional clients across Germany on strategic asset allocation, manager selection and risk management, with a strong focus on private markets and sustainable investing. He has held roles as an investment advisor at Dresdner Bank and worked in treasury sales, later serving as a senior portfolio manager for foundations and family offices. He previously spent 14 years at HypoVereinsbank UniCredit, where he led asset allocation for pension plans and chaired the Private Markets Committee, overseeing the bank’s private equity, private debt and infrastructure investments. In 2024 he was appointed to the Executive Board of HVB Privat‑Sterbe‑Kasse and continues to serve in a Non‑Executive capacity.
