Knut Kjaer
Founding Chair, NBIM and Executive Chairman, Sector Asset Management
Knut Kjaer is Executive Chairman at Sector Asset Management. In 1998, Kjaer became founding Chief Executive Officer of Norges Bank Investment Management, which was established by the Norwegian government to manage its sovereign wealth fund and foreign exchange reserves. He later became President of RiskMetrics Group in New York, with direct responsibility for the firm’s global risk management and corporate governance advisory businesses, Institutional Shareholder Services. Kjaer was among the founding partners of the global macro hedge fund Trient Asset Management and is currently the Executive Chairman of the hedge fund boutique Sector Asset Management. He has until recently been partner, chairman and head of IC in the Northern European private equity firm FSN Capital. Since 2022 Kjaer has served as professor II in Finance & sustainability at the Norwegian University of Life Science (NMBU). He is also on Supervisory board of APG Asset Management that manages Europe’s largest pension fund, ABP. Investment and Risk Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Advisory Investment Committee of the Central bank of Thailand. He was previously on the Investment Strategies Committee of GIC, Singapore, International Advisory Board of China Investment Corporation. Commission that managed the Irish National Pensions Reserve Fund. Investment committee of ABP. In 2008, Kjaer was appointed a Knight Class 1 of the Royal Order of St. Olav by His Majesty King Harald of Norway for his management of the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund and his contribution to the Norwegian economy and the future financing of its pensions.
