Joe Abrams
European Head of Private Debt, Mercer
Joe Abrams is a Partner at Mercer’s Investments business, and Head of Private Debt, Europe. He manages a team of investment professionals specialised in researching and investing in Private Debt. He is a member of Mercer’s Private Debt Investment Committee, Private Debt Rating Review Committee and more broadly supports the delivery of strategic research, advice and implementation across Mercer’s global Investments business, with a focus on credit. He began his career as a broker for ADM Investor Services in 2007, trading a wide variety of equity, interest rate and FX derivatives, before time as an equity analyst for an asset management firm based in Jersey working on an options-based equity strategy. He previously led Mercer’s research efforts in (liquid) Global Credit, Absolute Return Fixed Income/Unconstrained Bonds, Secured Finance and was a member of Mercer’s Strategic Research Group. Abrams has worked with a diverse array of institutional investors across the advisory and discretionary continuum; advising on the merits of building private credit allocations to suit varied risk and return objectives, whilst harnessing the heterogenous nature of the asset class. He regularly represents Mercer’s views externally at conferences, forums, social media and via publications/white papers and has gained industry recognition for his innovative credit-oriented solutions.
