Samir Shah is Managing Partner at Peak Sustainability Ventures, one of the first pure-play climate VC funds in India. He is extremely passionate about sustainability, and has a deep knowledge of Peak’s core areas which include new energy, agriculture, water and climate tech. Through his past investments, operating positions, and industry affiliations, he has built strong networks with investors and corporates. He has invested in leading sustainability start-ups such as ION Energy, GIST Advisory SA, Waaree Energies, Wabag, and HST Power. He is on the Investment committee of 9Unicorns, CIIE, Shell Foundation’s India Advisory Board and has been a keynote speaker at IIT Mandi on several occasions. Shah held senior risk-taking positions in Hong Kong and New York at Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers and Deutsche Bank. He managed a Hong Kong-based hedge fund for eight years. Shah has over 28 years of financial markets experience in India and globally, most recently running Sattva Capital, a Mumbai-based private investment office with over 25 investments. Shah teaches an MBA course at Ahmedabad University titled “Sustainability, Business & Society”. He holds an MBA from Wharton, a B Com and Law degree from Bombay University, and a Chartered Accountant degree from India.
