Monica Defend is Head of Amundi Institute at Amundi Asset Management. The division, created to enrich the client dialogue and foster Amundi’s recognition in the industry as a though leader, brings together macro-strategy and quant portfolio strategy research, valuable networking with the academic world, geopolitical analysis and is responsible for conveying Amundi's convictions and its investment recommendations. The team is complemented with core thought leadership, investment insights and publishing expertise to develop high quality contents and tools. Defend was previously Head of Quantitative Research at Pioneer Investments before becoming Global Head of Asset Allocation Research. She was a University Assistant for the Advanced Econometrics department in Bocconi University. She was previously Global Head of Group Research at Amundi. Defend has been in the investment industry since 1997.
She graduated with full marks at Bocconi University. She holds masters’ degrees in Economics (Bocconi University) and Financial Economics from the London Business School and Bocconi University. Defend was selected for the UniCredit Young Talents Program and the Management and Banking Academy afterwards gaining an MBA degree at the London Business School.
