Matti Leppälä

Matti Leppälä is Secretary General at PensionsEurope. He was previously the chair and vice-Chair from 2013 - 2018 of the Occupational Pensions Stakeholder Group of EU supervisory authority EIOPA, a member of the European Commission’s High-Level Group of Experts on Pensions from 2018 - 2019 and currently the chair of the World Pension Alliance. He started his professional career at the Law Drafting Department of the Ministry of Justice in Finland, then moved to the Finnish trade unions in collective bargaining, labour law and social policy. He also worked for 11 years at The Finnish Pension Alliance in EU and international affairs, investment policy and legal issues. He has a LLM and an Executive MBA in Insurance and Financial services.
