Professor Andreas G. F. Hoepner is Full Professor of Operational Risk, Banking & Finance at University College Dublin’s Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and Lochlann Quinn School of Business, where he also serves as Vice Principal for Research, Innovation & Impact. He leads the GreenWatch research group and is Principal Investigator of the EU Horizon-funded Nature-3B research consortium (2025–27). He is Head of the Data Science Hub of the European Union’s second Platform on Sustainable Finance, having previously served on its first Platform and the Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance. In these roles, he co-developed key EU sustainable finance frameworks, including Climate Transition Benchmarks and Paris-Aligned Benchmarks. Prior to joining UCD in 2017, he was Associate Professor of Finance at Henley Business School’s ICMA Centre, where he remains a Visiting Professor. He also holds visiting positions at the University of Hamburg and advises a range of organisations across finance and technology. His research spans sustainable finance, data science and responsible investment, with publications in leading academic journals and contributions to Science and Nature Climate Change. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a recipient of the Irish Sustainable Finance Person of the Year Award.
