Stewardship Manager Border to Coast Pensions Partnership
Colin Baines is the Stewardship Manager at Border to Coast Pensions Partnership, the largest pooled local government pension scheme in the UK with 57£bn of AUM. He has over 20 years’ experience working across a broad range of RI, ESG, and stewardship via the Co-op Bank, Co-op Asset Management, Friends Provident Foundation, and Border to Coast. He is a Visiting Professor in Practice at the London School of Economics, supporting the work of the Grantham Research Institute and it’s Just Transition Finance Lab. He is also co-chair of the IIGCC working group on just transition and is a member of the IIGCC investor strategies advisory group. Baines is also a co-opted Impact and Investment Committee member and former NED at Snowball Impact Investments. He has sat on several industry, government, and academic groups, including advisory groups to the UK Department for Energy & Climate Change, the Tyndall Centre, University of Manchester, and Birkbeck College, University of London. His work has been cited as best practice by government inquiries and industry awards, including ‘International Sustainable Bank of the Year’ at the prestigious FT / IFC awards.
